Getting Started

Creating an Account

Tap Create Account on the login screen. Enter your email and a password of at least 8 characters. Your account is created immediately.

Signing In

Enter your email and password and tap Sign In. Your jokes, sets, and tags load from the server automatically.

Forgot Your Password?

Tap Forgot password? on the login screen. Enter your email and we'll send a reset link valid for one hour. Set your new password and you'll be returned to the sign in screen.

Installing as an App

JokeVault is a Progressive Web App. In Safari, tap the Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. On Android, tap the browser menu and choose Install App.

Writing a Bit

Clearing the Form

Tap Clear (below the text area) to reset the title and body without saving. If you have unsaved text you'll be asked to confirm first.

Setting a Status

Every bit has a development status. Tap a status button to set it before saving.

Adding Tags

Tags categorise material by type. Tap any tag chip to toggle it. To create a custom tag, tap + Custom. A sheet slides up to type your tag name. Custom tags persist across sessions and can be renamed or deleted from the tag manager.

Tag consistently. The more consistently you tag, the more useful filtering becomes in the Vault.

Editing an Existing Bit

Open a bit from the Vault and tap Edit. It loads into the Capture tab. Saving returns you to the Vault with a โœ“ confirmation. Navigating away with unsaved changes will prompt you to confirm.

Vault Tab: Managing Material

The Vault is your full library. Every saved bit appears as a card showing title, status, preview, tags, and estimated duration.

Browsing & Searching

Use the search bar to filter by title or body text. The status pills below filter by development stage.

Sorting

Use the sort controls to order your vault by Newest, Oldest, Aโ€“Z, or Status. Newest is the default.

Filtering by Tag

A scrollable row of tag pills appears below the sort controls. Tap any tag to filter. Multiple tags can be selected โ€” only bits matching all selected tags are shown.

Duration Estimates

Each card shows an estimated duration calculated at approximately 55 words per minute to account for pauses and delivery. Tap the duration pill to override it manually in steps of 0.5 min. Overrides carry over to set lists.

```
Viewing a Bit
Tap any card to open the detail view, which shows the full text, status, date saved, tags, and which set lists the bit belongs to. Tap a set name to jump directly to that set.
Editing & Deleting
Consider keeping bits rather than deleting them. Old material sometimes comes back.
Sets Tab: Building Set Lists
Creating a Set
Tap + New and enter a name. The set is created immediately and becomes the active set.
Switching Sets
Tap the set name dropdown at the top of the screen to open the set picker. Tap any set to switch to it.
Renaming a Set
Long-press the set name dropdown to edit it inline. Press Enter or tap away to save.
Adding Bits
Tap + Add a bit at the top of the list. A picker sheet slides up showing your vault. Tap any bit to add it. Already-added bits are greyed out.
Viewing a Bit from the Set
Tap the title or status of any bit in the set list to open its full detail view. Tap โ† Back to return to the set.
Reordering
Grab the โ ฟ handle on the left of any bit and drag to reorder. The order saves automatically.
Duration
After a show, update bit durations based on how long they actually ran โ€” this makes future set building more accurate.
Removing & Deleting
Sets save automatically whenever you make a change โ€” no manual save needed.
Version History
Every time you edit and save a bit, the previous version is automatically stored. JokeVault keeps up to 10 versions per bit.
Viewing History
Open any bit's detail view and tap History in the top right. A sheet slides up showing previous versions with their date and status.
Restoring a Version
Tap a version to preview it. If you want to restore it, confirm the prompt and it loads into the Capture tab. Your current version is saved first before the restore, so nothing is lost.
Version history starts recording from the first edit after you install the latest update. Older edits before that point won't appear.
Exporting Your Material
Tap โ˜ฐ from any screen and choose Export to open the Export screen.
All Material
Current Set
Set export options are greyed out if no active set has bits.
Export Set Titles before a show and keep it in your notes app as a quick stage reference.
Shows Tab: Logging Performances
The Shows tab is a performance log for tracking every set you perform. Over time it gives you a clear picture of how your shows are trending.
Logging a Show
Tap + Log a Show and fill in the date, venue, which set you performed, a star rating (1โ€“5), and optional notes. Tap Save Show to log it.
Bit Snapshot
When you log a show, JokeVault saves a snapshot of the bits in your set at that exact moment. If you later rearrange or rewrite your set, the show log still reflects what you actually performed that night.
Stats & Filtering
Once you have shows logged, a stats bar appears showing your total shows, average rating, and best rating. Filter by All time, 30 days, 90 days, or This year to see how a period of shows went.
Editing & Deleting
Log a show within an hour of coming offstage while the details are still fresh.
Stage View
Stage View shows your full set list as large white text on a black screen โ€” designed to be glanced at backstage before or during a show.
Opening Stage View
On the Sets tab, tap the โ–ถ StageView button in the top right. Your set list titles appear numbered in large type. The screen stays on automatically so it won't dim while you're on stage.
Stopwatch
A stopwatch sits at the top of Stage View. Tap it to start, tap again to pause, and hold to reset. The timer turns green while running.
Closing
Tap โœ• Close at the bottom right of the screen to exit. The stopwatch resets automatically when you close Stage View.
Stage View only shows titles, not full bit text โ€” it's a quick reference, not a script.
Sending Feedback
Tap โ˜ฐ from any screen and choose Send Feedback to open the feedback form.
Bug Report
Use this if something isn't working as expected. Describe what happened, what you were doing, and what you expected to see.
Feature Request
Use this to suggest something new. Describe the feature and why it would help your workflow.
Feedback goes directly to the JokeVault team. You'll get a reply at the email on your account if we have questions.
Account
Tap โ˜ฐ from any screen and choose Account. It shows your email address and the date you joined.
Change Password
From the Account screen, tap Change Password. Enter your current password and choose a new one (minimum 8 characters).
Sign Out
From the Account screen, tap Sign Out. Your data stays safely on the server.
Delete Account
From the Account screen, tap Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm your password. This permanently deletes all your bits, sets, tags, and account data and cannot be undone.
Sync & Storage
Offline Use
JokeVault requires an internet connection to load and sync data. If you lose connection, saves and edits will fail until you're back online.
